GALVESTON, Texas Kevin Inks is traveling on a road he s been down before. He s in a child custody battle with his ex-wife Heather, who has apparently vanished with the couple s 9-year-old daughter Penelope.
It s very stressful. I m very tired and exhausted, he said.
This is the second time the mother and daughter have gone missing in three months. KHOU 11 News reported when they vanished in January before turning up safe a few days later. However, this time, the pair has been gone much longer.
We re at two and a half weeks now and counting, said Inks. And she does not have her belongings and neither does my little girl. So now I m wondering does my little girl have clothes, does she have food to eat?
Inks filed a missing person s report and recorded home video inside the condo where his wife and daughter had been staying. The images show food and clothing all over the floor and mold growing in the refrigerator.
There was an eviction notice posted on the front door along with a note giving the occupants until Saturday to retrieve their belongings.
Inks said it s been a long frustrating fight with trips back and forth to the courthouse in a legal drama that has no end in sight. And now he s wondering when and even if he ll see his daughter again.
I m wondering if she s on the streets, Inks said. The things that are going through my mind are not pleasant at all.
Heather Inks has a Facebook account and someone with access to her page posted, Hooray, it s Friday, on March 7.
I ve called her, said Inks. She doesn t respond to my texts. She doesn t respond to my emails.
And that leaves a man who s been granted joint legal custody of his child hoping the mother responds to a desperate plea.
I hope you do the right thing and let me know that she s OK and safe.
