DALLAS -- Some creative thinking people saved some newborn puppies in Dallas on Friday morning.
Neighbors heard their cries and called Animal Control.
The puppies were 13 feet inside a 20-foot long drain. It was too far for crews to reach them so they had to improvise.
Workers cut holes into a bucket, hung it on a rod, and used it to get the puppies and their mother out.
Sometimes we have to make do with what we have at the time, said one of the rescuers. It felt great because the dogs were saved and to me it wouldn't be on my conscience.
The puppies will be ready for adoption in 6 to 8 weeks.
