HOUSTON - Two men walked into a Whataburger in northeast Houston late Wednesday and asked for job applications before trying to rob the restaurant.

Houston police said the incident happened at the Whataburger near the North Loop and Homestead Road around 11:45 p.m.

A worker in the restaurant told police two men entered and asked for applications for employment. When the worker turned around, one of the two suspects pulled out a gun and demanded money from the cash register.

Police said the employee acted like she didn t know how to open the register, and it startled the suspects enough to scare them away.

A detailed description of the would-be robbers wasn t available, but witnesses said they left the scene in a champagne-colored Chevrolet Impala.

No injuries were reported.
