HOUSTON The Texas Department of Transportation expects the bridge at the Beltway 8 North and Aldine Westfield to be repaired by early October.

The bridge was damaged nearly two weeks ago after a big rig carrying enormous spools hit the overpass. The overpass will cost about $180,000 to repair.

This week, contractors demolished some of the beams to begin repairs. They plan to temporarily reopen Aldine Westfield southbound to help with back-to-school traffic.
