HOUSTON -- Courageous Faith Christian Center, shepherd by Pastor JD Herron, will host the renowned Mississippi Mass Choir on May 18. The choir celebrates their 25th anniversary of ministry through music with the theme of Behold I AM doing a new thing!

This event will kick off the choir s six- state concert tour with first stop in Houston, also honoring its legendary founder Frank Williams.

The concert will be held at Holman Street Baptist Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 3501 Holman Street. Attendees can expect a night full of praise & worship, with comedic lines from gospel comedian, radio personality and Master of Ceremonies, Marcus D. Wiley of the Yolanda Adams Morning Show. Other musical performances will include Soulfruit, J. Shep & Standard, Willie A. Taylor & Friends , Houston Mass Choir, solo acts Trea Trapp and 89 year old Antioch Missionary Baptist Church s own Rebekah Threlkeld.

It is both an honor and a privilege to welcome The Mississippi Mass Choir to Houston in celebration of over 20 years of evangelizing through song. So many, to include myself, have been transformed spiritually over the years by the amazing talent and ministry of this choir, said Pastor JD Herron of Courageous Faith Christian Center. We are blessed to have them come.

Gospel fans can expect to hear popular songs that trademark the Stellar and Grammy award-winning 150 member choir, with worship led by Mama Burks, 80.

The popular choir was founded in February 1988 by Frank Williams. Their three recordings God Gets the Glory, It Remains to be Seen, Rev. James Moore Live with Mississippi Mass, and Rev. James Moore Live with Mississippi Mass at Jackson State University all reached the No. 1 position. Their first album after the untimely passing of Frank Williams in 1993, I ll See You in the Rapture reached the No. 2 slot on the Billboard Chart; second only to Kirk Franklin s recording-setting release.

Frank Williams widow, Katrina, will join the choir this weekend, paying homage to her late husband on this special night.

Additionally, artist and speed painter to the celebs, Ange Hillz of Visualpaint, will be performing worship through art. Completed in just under five minutes, a portrait will be painted to the tune of worship music. The painting will then be auctioned off with proceeds to go to a scholarship for a deserving college student delivered by Courageous Faith Christian Center.

Pre-sale tickets are now on sale for the concert. The costs of tickets are $20 for general admission and $25 VIP seating, which will provide priority seating, quick entry and a souvenir booklet.
