FORT BEND, Texas A seventh-grade boy was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat Monday after Lake Olympia Middle School was temporarily placed under lockdown, a spokeswoman with the Fort Bend Independent School District said.

School officials said at 10 a.m. they received a tip that someone may have a weapon on campus. Fort Bend ISD police immediately started investigating as students were sheltered in place.

The usual bell and lunch schedule were delayed and students remained in their second period classes, but were allowed to have a structured lunch, school officials said.

Parents were notified about the investigation by a phone call through the parent notification system.

Campus administrators and the Fort Bend ISD Police Department said no weapon was found after an extensive investigation. The school district did not reveal details about what the student did to be charged with making a terroristic threat.

Fort Bend ISD officials said they encourage students to talk to an adult, or to use the anonymous student Crimestoppers system to report anyone or anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.
