HOUSTON Charges have been filed against a 17-year-old Clear Lake High School student who allegedly tried to rob a brother and sister as they were walking home from a store.
Jacob Alexander Rodriguez was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Police said on February 21, a young woman and her brother were walking to a store in the 16400 block of El Camino Real. As they approached the store, they noticed a young man wearing all black clothing and a black hat standing outside. When they exited, the same young man began to follow them. The young man, identified as Rodriguez, pulled out a knife and demanded money. The woman said she did not have any, then dropped her bag of groceries and ran back to the store for help, investigators said.
One of Rodriguez s classmates was in the store when the brother and sister ran back in. She realized the suspect they were describing was Rodriguez, whom she had just spoken to.
The classmatetold policeRodriguez attended Clear Lake High School.
Rodriguez had a prior arrest, so police obtained a booking photo and included it in a photo lineup. Rodriguez was positively identified, police said.
Police then went to Clear Lake High School to interview Rodriguez in the presence of school administrators. Authorities also found Rodriguez s journal with a handwritten account of the robbery. The teen confessed after that.
Rodriguez s bail was set at $30,000.
