Big or little, young or old, everybody needs a home, and so does every pet. That's why about 6,000 dog lovers flocked to Woodlawn Lake Park for the 2nd annual Bark in the Park held Saturday, March 2, 2013. Pet adoptions were, indeed, happening 17 adoption agencies were represented but there was also free nail clipping, low-cost vaccinations, free spay/neuter service and micro-chipping.

Las Altenas and the Krayolas entertained the crowd. In the afternoon, judges, including KENS 5's own Natalie Tejeda, selected winners in several categories, including: best look-alikes (we're talking dog and pet owners here, folks); best trick; best mutt strutt and best dressed.

About 40 animal welfare, adoption and rescue agencies participated. It's all about responsible pet ownership, said Joel Williams, director of public relations for the San Antonio Area Foundation, organizers of the day's event. Williams said it's part of the foundation's Talk About It no-kill campaign.
