HARRIS COUNTY, Texas Deputy constables said early Tuesday a suspect rear-ended an officer s patrol car before leading them on a half-hour chase around Beltway 8.
The chase, which lasted about 20 miles, came to an end on the toll way near West Tidwell.
One of our K9 units got rear-ended, said Precinct 5 Deputy Constable Sgt Herbert Martinez. The vehicle you see in the backdrop actually did the rear-ending. It rear-ended one of our units. It turned into a, what ended up being a pursuit.
During the chase, Precinct 5 deputy constables said the suspect s sport utility vehicle hit speeds around 100 miles per hour. An officer s well-placed spikes blew out a tire, causing the suspect s vehicle to throw sparks before it came to a stop.
Inside the SUV, deputies said they found several weapons. The vehicle apparently was a company car for a business called Contra Gear. Among the weapons found inside were a handgun with ammo, various holsters, knives, and even a set of nunchucks.
Constables said the suspect would be charged with fleeing and, because of the initial crash, aggravated assault.
