SAN ANTONIO -- Shontae Minor and Khristian Rohena welcomed four more children into the world Tuesday morning.
At around 7 a.m., Minor gave birth to quadruplets -- two sets of twin boys.
The couple named the quadruplets: Yandel Louis, Yariel Raphael, Orion Rico and Ryan Nico.
Minor said early on doctors suggested she abort one set of twins.
I was depressed for a while, but I was like, 'God gave me these kids for a reason, so I'm not going to abort,' Minor said.
Minor reached this multiple-birth pregnancy without fertility treatments. Twins run on both sides of their family, but the chances of what's happened to them are one in a million.
She said the pregnancy was unplanned, and so was the birth of her first son, Khristian Jr.
Rohena is an Iraq War veteran who was medically discharged. He served in the U.S. Army for five years.
He said doctors told him he was sterile after an accident during surgery. He was told he would never have children.
The babies, who were delivered via C-section, are doing fine, Rohena said. As of Tuesday evening three of them were eating normally. Orion inhaled fluid when exiting the womb, so doctors had to insert a tube in his lungs, said the dad.
The couple is most worried about the financial challenges ahead. Rohena is disabled and unable to work. Right now, they're living in a two-bedroom apartment.
