HOUSTON A 65-year-old Spring woman is facing possible jail time for allegedly driving drunk with a 5-year-old girlin the car before crashing into a light pole, according to Precinct 4 deputy constables.

Ana Maria Martinez was charged with felony intoxication assault.

Martinez was driving in the 19800 block of Kuykendahl on September 24 when her Toyota Camry ran into a ditch, went airborne, struck the hood and roof of another vehicle, then crashed into a light pole, according to court documents.

She and the child were seriously injured in the crash. A deputy constable who arrived first to the scene provided first aid until paramedics arrived.

Martinez and the child were both airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment.

The little girl suffered a broken jaw and multiple contusions to the face.

Martinez sustained injuries to her liver, lungs and broken bones. Tests revealed she had a blood alcohol level of .27.

Her bail was set at $30,000.
