HOUSTON A young woman charged with a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a Houston artist dead has been arrested.

Police found 25-year-old Shannon Garcia at a motel in North Texas after they got a tip.

Garcia s boyfriend told police she d been drinking when she ran into Jeremy Choate on his motorcycle Saturday near at Studemont and I-10.

Choate was thrown from the bike and he died hours later from massive head injuries.

She allegedly took off running and left her boyfriend and car behind.

Garcia is charged with an accident involving injury or death.

Choat, 33, was a nationally recognized lighting designer and was well-known in the local art community.
