Tropical storm Florence formed early Saturday morning just west of the Cape Verde Islands. Meanwhile, Ernesto continues to churn through the Eastern Caribbean looking more and more like a tropical storm on a course to Mexico or Belize.

A slight wobble to the northwest was seen this morning as a hurricane hunter was gauging the strength and structure of this soon to be hurricane according to the National Hurricane Center.

The latest track from NHC puts Ernesto near the Yucatan peninsula around mid-week as a strong category 1 hurricane. Heavy, flooding downpours, large waves and a 4 to 6-foot storm surge could impact the beaches of Mexico by Tuesday.

The latest coordinates and tracks can be found at KHOU s Hurricane Central. You can also track the tropics on KHOU s Facebook and Twitter.
