Competitors twisted, contorted, stretched and flexed in front of an intensely quiet crowd at the Pearl Stable in San Antonio on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011.

Yogis of all ages came from all over to compete in the eighth annual Texas Yoga Asana Championship.

The series consisted of at least five poses: standing head to knee, standing bow, bow, rabbit and stretching. After completing the compulsory poses, the competitors were able to show off their skills with two more poses of their choice, usually more challenging and entertaining than the first five.

The champion and runner up from each division will go on to represent Texas in the International Yoga Asana Championship. They included Youth Male Champion Raleigh Johnson, of Houston.
