HOUSTON Several Houston-area venues are holding special events in recognition of the royal wedding of Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Every Houston Daughters of The Empire chapter will be holding a royal wedding event this week.
The Red Lion at 2316 S. Shepherd will be open at 5 a.m. on Friday, April 29 with a special Royal Wedding Menu for Breakfast.

Sherlock's Baker St. Pub, Baker St. Pub & Grills and Watson's House of Ales:

The week's festivities start with royal family trivia nights on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 26 and 27. The trivia games will coincide with happy hour. (Check your local pub for specific dates and times.)

Then on the big day -- April 29 -- pubs will award couples that share the royal couple's first names -- William and Kate -- with a $25 gift card and a crown and tiara. (Yes, an ID will be required.)

The restaurants will be showing coverage of the wedding throughout the day and diners will receive a free wedding cupcake with the purchase of any entree. (If you really want that sweet treat, visit early because when the cupcakes run out, you're out of luck.)

The celebration culminates at 10 p.m. with a Royal Look-a-like Contest where a Prince and Princess of each pub will be crowned and gifted with prize packs.

A Royal Breakfast at Ousie's: Ouisie's Table will host two Royal Breakfast and viewing parties on Friday. Earlier risers can watch live pre-wedding coverage and the ceremony beginning at 7 a.m. or you can sleep in and watch the event replayed at 9 a.m. Admission is $25, plus tax and gratuity, and includes a Eggs benedict, scones and other pastries, champagne and coffee.

Toast the Newlyweds at Spindletop: Spindletop, the lovely, revolving rooftop restaurant high atop the Hyatt Regency, offers diners a chance to toast the royal couple Friday evening. The restaurant is offering complimentary glasses of champagne from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to dinner guests.

English Brunch At Drafthouse: Both Alamo Drafthouses will be screening the royal nuptials and serving an English brunch on Friday. The fun won't be live, but who wants to get up that early anyway? The festivities start at 10:30 a.m. at the West Oaks Drafthouse in West Oaks Mall, Highway 6 at Westheimer. Brunch begins at 11:30 at the Katy Drafthouse, 531 S. Mason Road. It's free to get in; food and beverage are extra.
