HOUSTON A 21-year-old woman died Friday when her vehicle hit a tree following a suspected case of road rage on the Eastex Freeway, Houston police said.

The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the service road just north of Kingwood Drive.

Police said the woman s yellow Chevrolet Aveo changed to the center lane, and at the same time, a maroon Ford F-150 pickup truck aggressively entered the lane.

As a result of the aggressive driving, the victim s vehicle lost control and went into the tree, she was killed instantly when she struck the tree, said Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Warren Diepramm.

Investigators said there s a possibility that there was a prior confrontation between the victim and the driver of the truck.

A particularly sad case, the victim, her husband is in the U.S. armed forces, currently serving in Iraq, Diepramm said.

The victim s name has not been released.

A search was under way Friday for the driver of the truck. Police said his license plate number is 64M KG2.
