HOUSTON Several Good Samaritans rescued a 26-year-old woman from a burning car early Saturday morning after a collision involving another car and an 18-wheeler on the I-10/Eastex Freeway, witnesses said.
At about 3:30 a.m., 26-year-old woman was traveling east in a red car on I-10 at a high rate of speed when she slammed into a grey car with a female driver.
The grey car ended up against the inside concrete wall after the collision, while the red car sat in the middle of the freeway.
An 18-wheeler not far behind struggled to avoid the accident scene and slammed into the red car, which caught on fire with the driver trapped inside, witnesses said.
Several drivers stopped and helped rescue the woman from the burning car. She was then transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in serious condition with burns on 15 percent of her body.
The driver of the grey car was also taken to a local hospital in stable condition, while the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the collision.
