HOUSTON -- The Harris County Medical Examiner says a man whose headless body was found outside a vacant Houston house had been shot to death.

The head and an arm of 35-year-old Marlon Thomas were located Sunday evening stuffed into a trash bag. A chainsaw was next to the bag and the rest of his remains were nearby.

Police arrested the victim s best friend, 32-year-old Noe Morin, and charged him Monday with murder.

Medical examiner spokeswoman Roxanne Mena said Tuesday an autopsy determined the death was a homicide and that the cause was a gunshot wound to the head.

Neighbors have described Thomas and Morin as best friends for years and suggested a possible argument over money or theft of property might have led to the slaying.
