HOUSTON -- High school partygoers fled as gunshots rang out during a gathering of about 100 people at a southwest Houston hotel, police said early Friday morning.

Officers with the Houston Police Department were called to Hotel Preet along the Southwest Freeway just outside Beltway 8 around midnight.

About 100 high school students reportedly gathered for a spring break party when things got out of hand. As police investigated in a lot behind the hotel, gunshots were heard coming from the front lot.

Witnesses said someone in a Jeep opened fire, but no injuries were reported.

The officer opened fire, shooting the SUV twice. The driver then fled the scene but pulled over just a few blocks away with a flat tire.

No arrests were made at the hotel, but two men in the Jeep were taken in to custody for questioning, police said.

There were no arrests from that disturbance call, said HPD Spokesman Kese Smith. Most of those individuals were some of them were question and detained. A number of them once the shooting occurred immediately fled.
