HOUSTON Plumbers are warning people in the areas being hit by a hard freeze to protect their pipes.
We spoke to Lonnie Anthony who lives near the Woodlands about how he s protecting his home.
Anthony showed us mounds of insulation and long tubes of foam covering pipes in his attic.
I did the best I could, he said, then laughed as he said he hoped his scheme works.
Temperatures in Anthony s neighborhood are expected to hover at 25 degrees or below for as long as 13 hours Monday night.
Plumbers say people need to make sure their pipes are wrapped when these extreme temperatures hit.
Joseph Bany, a plumbing manager for John Moore, also suggests leaving cabinet doors open under sinks.
Moore said you may even want to leave water dripping inside your home. But pipes can still freeze, he said.
Anthony said he s done all he can, all he can do now is keep his fingers crossed.
