SALISBURY, N.C. -- Erica Parsons was repeatedly verbally and physically abused by her adoptive mother before she disappeared, according to a warrant outlining probable cause for a search of the Parsons family home in Salisbury.

The warrant also reveals some surprising findings, including several red stains that are now being tested for blood. The stains were found on walls, on baseboards and the floor. Investigators took several swab samples.

Investigators also found two knives wrapped in shrink wrap.

In addition, they found an apparent fascination with the 1996 murder of JonBenet Ramsey in Boulder, Colorado, which remains unsolved to this day.

The warrant says notes about home remodeling were in the Ramsey book. They also found a plastic bag of magazines featuring JonBenet.

Investigators took the evidence in their attempt to find 15-year-old Erica Parsons. She has been missing from the family home for nearly two years. Her brother reported her missing two weeks ago, prompting the search. The family says the brother accused them of crimes they didn't commit as payback for the brother getting kicked out of the house in June after a fight with his mother Casey Parsons.

They're just looking for anything that they can find that will help. We want to help any way we can to find Erica, said Parsons family attorney Carlyle Sherrill.

In making their case for probable cause, investigators cite other relatives who accuse mom Casey Parsons of ongoing abuse.

According to the warrant after interviewing several family members:

- Casey admitted to a relative she once lost control and beat Erica
- Erica told other relatives that her parents hit her
- Casey always blamed marks on Erica's body on someone else in the house

Take it for what it's worth. Anything anybody says, they can stick in there to get probable cause. We don't put any trust in it at all, Sherrill said. Casey Parsons and her husband are doing everything they possibly can to find Erica.

The warrant also says investigators are getting the family's bank statements.
The family says it kept government checks as Erica's adoptive parents even after she was gone, because they are still her legal guardians, thought she was coming back and it kept her eligible for Medicaid.

Thursday, the FBI questioned the father, Sandy Parsons, for hours. He did not speak to the media after it was over.

Casey Parsons was admitted to a hospital Thursday with complications from a previous stomach surgery.

Nobody has been arrested or charged.
