HOUSTON -- Activist Quannell X along with local community leaders and hip-hop stars have planned a peaceful protest at the Byrd Funeral Home on Wheeler.
In a statement released by Quannel X, the activist explained his reasons for holding the rally at a funeral home.
Some would ask why a funeral home? Well, the message that was sent Saturday night to America is that racial profiling is now legal justification to send a young African-American male to the funeral home.
The rally starts at 7 p.m. Monday at Byrd, located in the 2500 block of Wheeler Street. Doors open at 6 p.m.
From New York to California over the weekend, outrage over the acquittal in George Zimmerman s murder trial poured from street demonstrations and church pulpits as protesters called for justice for the unarmed youth he killed and demanded federal civil rights charges against him.
Scheduled to appear at the rally are local entertainers Bun B, Scarface, Willie D, Trae-the Truth and Zero.
