HOUSTON -- Screening events for Kanye West s new music video, New Slaves, were shut down in Houston and San Antonio over the weekend after police said organizers hadn t secured the proper permits.

The Houston Chronicle reported the rapper s promo for his new album was going to be projected shortly before 10 p.m. Friday on the side of Rothko Chapel, but police called it off. Technical issues caused more cancellations at two backup spots in Houston.

HPD reportedly asked the fans who had gathered to leave the property.

In recent weeks, West has been screening the video for his new album Yeezus around the world. The screenings are usually projected onto walls in public places.

On Sunday night, another screening event was shut down in San Antonio. Organizers there said the video would be projected on the side of the Alamo. Again, however, police said the proper permits were never issued. About 500 people had gathered for that event.

Police in Baltimore also cancelled outdoor premieres due to permit issues.
