HOUSTON - Bomb threats were phoned in to two different Houston synagogues, causing their schools to cancel classes Thursday, police said.
The threats were made around lunchtime Wednesday, the Houston Police Department said. Officers responded, but nothing was found at the temples.
HPD said the schools that received the threats were Congregation Beth Israel on N. Braeswood and Congregation Or Ami on Wilcrest.
FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap confirmed the bureau s investigators were working with HPD on the case. Early Thursday morning, officers were spotted parked outside the schools.
The Houston Chronicle reported the campuses will reopen Friday with added security personnel.
As always, our first priority is the safety and security of our students, Barbara Garber, director of the center, said in an email.
