HOUSTON -- An adult male was airlifted to a Houston hospital Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a car on a highway.

Officials said the man was hit and seriously injured while standing outside his vehicle on northbound Highway 59 near Murphy Road around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Life Flight transported the man to Memorial Hermann Trauma Center. There s no word on his condition.

All lanes of northbound Highway 59 were shut down down for several hours, but reopened early Tuesday evening.
