HOUSTON A driver narrowly escaped a car just before it caught fire after a crash late Sundayon the Southwest Freeway.

Theaccident occurred around 11 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway at Westpark Drive.

According to the Houston Police Department, a red Ford F-150 pickup truck and a car collided, causing both to roll over. The car then caught fire.

Both drivers were sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash caused a major backup on the freeway, with all southbound main lanes closed for nearly an hour.

There was no immediate word on what caused the accident.
