HOUSTON One of the men accused in the murder of a young father, who was in Houston caring for his cancer-stricken father, has been arrested and charged with murder. Detone Lewayne Price, 18,appeared in probable cause court in downtown Houston early Thursday.

Price was charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 28-year-old Salem Al Mazroui.

On Sunday night, Al Mazroui and his father were returning home to the San Marin apartments located at 8181 El Mundo near Reliant Stadium, according to police. The father, Saif Al Mazroui,had just received a cancer treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and they had stopped at a mosque to pray.

Saif Al Mazrouitold police he thinks the suspects followed them home from the mosque.

Police say Price and his accomplice, 17-year-old Corey Trevon Perry, approached the victims as they were unloading items from their car.

Perry allegedly pulled a gun, and the two suspects forced the father and son inside their apartment.

Price locked the door behind them, then began rummaging through the family s belongings for valuables, according to police.

The father managed to escape after being pistol-whipped by Perry.When Al Mazroui attempted to follow his dad, Perry shot him twice in the side, according to police.

Al Mazroui was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, where he later died.

The suspectsfled the scene in the family s 2008 Toyota Avalon, which was located early Monday morning, Houston Police said.

Police lifted fingerprints from the car and identified the two suspects. Price was arrested after Al Mazroui s father confirmed he was one of the men involved.

Price is being held with no bond.

Perrywas still on the run from police as of Thursday morning. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Al Mazroui was a captain in the United Arab Emirates and is survived by a wife and 2-month-old son.
