HOUSTON - A bus attendant trying to break up a fight on a Houston Independent School District bus early Thursday suffered minor injuries after a student pulled out a steak knife, police said.
According to a spokeswoman for the school district, the incident happened on a bus carrying special needs students to Cullen Middle School.
HISD Police said two students, ages 13 and 15, got into a fight on the bus. The younger student allegedly pulled out a steak knife to defend himself. The female bus attendant stepped in to break up the altercation and suffered injuries after she hit her head.
She was taken to Methodist Hospital as a precautionary measure, the district said.
HISD Police said they would review security camera video on-board the bus.
The case has been sent to the Harris County District Attorney's Office for review.
