A cluster of showers and storms located about half-way between Africa and South America could develop into the third tropical depression of this year's Atlantic hurricane season.
Right now, the National Hurricane Center gives this about a 30-percent chance of becoming a tropical system in the next 36-48 hours.
The chances of it becoming a tropical system in the 5 days jumps to 70-percent, so it definitely needs to be monitored closely. The initial motion is westward and the early model runs suggest that will continue for the next few days.
Stay tuned for updates as conditions warrant.
