PASADENA, Texas Firefighters discovered a burned body when they responded to a grass fire Monday morning near the Sam Houston Parkway, police said.
Firefighters responded to the grass fire just after 5 a.m. in a field in the 6600 block of Olsen at Crestford.
A neighbor on his way to work noticed flames and called 911. Investigators quickly realized it was more than just a fire.
(The) fire department responded and they extinguished the fire and they realized there was a female body that had been burned at that location, said Vance Mitchell with the Pasadena Police Department. Apparently the body had been ignited and the grassy area around her burned.
The woman was burned to the point that her age and race could not immediately be determined.
That was so horrible, Duane Stinson, a nearby resident said. I mean especially so close to your house. That s where you live.
Detectives went door to door talking to neighbors Monday morning and told KHOU 11 News that no one noticed anything unusual before the fire.
The investigation continues.
