HOUSTON As the alleged Cypress rapist faced a judge Monday, his girlfriend spoke out saying he s innocent and she is with him 100 percent.
Deputies say 33-year-old Ricky Lee Zepeda raped two women in the Cypress area in January. They fear there could be more women out there.
Zepeda is a father of two who lived with his girlfriend of nine months and her three children. Deputies said if it wasn t for witnesses sending tips in about the alleged car used in the rapes, things would ve been different.
I m with him 100 percent. No matter what, guilty or not guilty. I will be there. It s pretty sad to go through this, said Zepeda s girlfriend, who did not want to be identified.
Deputies said Zepeda watched women walk into their homes and then raped them.
I think he s innocent of what they re accusing him. He s never done anything to make me think that he would do (that), he never raised his voice at me, his girlfriend said.
The first rape happened in the beginning of January. A mother of two was home with her children on Temple Hill Lane when Zepeda allegedly forced his way in. The children were in another room when their mother was raped.
The suspect threatened her life with a sharp object. Threatened to cut her throat, then sexually assaulted her, said Sheriff Adrian Garcia.
Two weeks later, deputies said he struck again. A 34-year-old mother of two just walked into her Sableton Crest Lane home when her door was kicked in. Her children were on their way home from school.
He was able to bound and tie the victims hands and ankles, and sexually assaulted her, said Garcia.
Lead investigators said Zepeda s words led them to him in both cases.
There was distinctive dialogue used in both invasions, said Detective Armando Tamaz, with the Harris County Sheriff s Office.
Deputies would not go into details. Regardless of the accusations, Zepeda s girlfriend said she is standing by her man. They were planning on getting engaged in the near future.
Zepeda was being held without bond.
