NASHVILLE Matt Schaub started and ended the 2013 season with interceptions. Is that the way his career with the Houston Texans will end?

The quarterback is hoping he gets another chance.

I would do anything for those guys, Schaub said after the game. So, to come back and play with those guys? Absolutely. But, I m also a realist and understand the nature of this business so we ll see how it goes.

To say 2013 was rough for Schaub would be an understatement. After a 2012 campaign which saw him lead the team to a division championship and a first round playoff victory, Schaub never seemed to find the rhythm that made him successful.

You never envision stuff like this happening and the season going the way it did for our football team, Schaub said. The great thing is we can learn from it, think about it and grind on it all off-season so we can come back week one next year.

Schaub finished the season with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, 4 of which that were returned for touchdowns. He was replaced as the starter after going down against St. Louis and then saw limited playing time until the end of the season when Case Keenum went out with an injury.

Combine all the on field struggles with the constant criticism off of it, and this has been a season to forget for the veteran quarterback.

It s hard to put into words, Schaub said. All the things that have gone on with our team, on the field and off the field you are just looking forward to putting it out of your mind.

One place where he s always had support, at least publicly, is the locker room. That continued after the teams 16-10 loss to the Titans.

You hate to see anybody go through that, wide receiver Andre Johnson said. I love Matt like a brother. We don t know what the future holds. I spent 8 seasons with him and he was very positive on my career and I was positive on his. We both mean a lot to each other.

Matt always handles things with class man, tight end Owen Daniels said. He always knows how to deal with tough situations in a way that I don t really understand how he does it. I wouldn t have been able to do it as well as he did.

The Texans clinched the number one pick in the 2014 NFL Draft with the loss to Tennessee and it is widely believed that they will select a quarterback. Schaub didn t comment directly on that, but knows those decisions are out of his control.

We ll evaluate things and we ll see where we go from there, Schaub said. There s a lot that has to come up before that time.
