LA MARQUE The La Marque school district has been without security officers on campus for several weeks, school administrators confirmed Wednesday.

Thomasine Allen, the district s director of facilities and maintenance operations, said there have been no major incidents at the schools despite the lack of officers.

She said teachers, coaches and other employees had stepped up to help monitor security.

Demetra Hunter, whose child attends La Marque Junior High, said she is worried there are not enough safeguards to keep students on campus or to keep strangers out of the school.

There s nothing stopping anybody from walking right into that school, Hunter said.
