HOUSTON Houston police are searching for several burglars one apparently with a sweet tooth who broke into a grocery store in northwest Houston early Friday.
Surveillance cameras captured the suspects, dressed in all black and hoodies, prying open the front glass door of the store. Once inside, they loaded up several bags full of cigarettes and headed out the door.
The Foodarama store is just the latest victim in a rash of break-ins targeting stores that sell cigarettes.
Apparently there is a big market for [cigarettes], at $67 to $80 a carton, that s money in the bank for them, said store manager Coy Mayes. It s just sickening. It makes me sick to my stomach. It really does.
Before leaving, police say one of the burglars grabbed an apple pie for the road.
Retailers and police hope this trio is caught soon before their appetite for crime increases.
