HOUSTON -- An armed man was taken into police custody early Monday morning after a nearly two-hour standoff.

It started around 4 a.m. at a home on W. Pierce Street, not far from the intersection of W. Gray Street and Waugh Drive.

Someone at the Montrose home called for help around 4 a.m. When they arrived at the scene, Houston police said the man pointed a gun at officers and then barricaded himself in the home.

The man surrendered peacefully shortly before 6 a.m.
