HOUSTON The man accused of killing a Bellaire police officer and an innocent bystander will face the death penalty, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Harlem Lewis III is accused of driving away from a traffic stop last December and leading police on a chase that came to a stop outside a body shop. That is where Lewis is accused of shooting and killing Officer Jimmie Norman.

A few seconds later, Lewis allegedly shot business owner Terry Taylor, who went outside to help Norman.

Lewis is set to go on trial in January.
