ATLANTA -- A newly released study suggests women may binge drink more than men.

According to a study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in eight women binge drink.

The study shows one in five high school girls binge drink, and when it comes to college-aged women, it grows even higher.

A study from Spain found more than 50 percent of women were binge drinkers, compared to 41 percent of males.

The research suggests women tend to drink faster and get drunk quicker.

The CDC director said binge drinking in women isn't new, but it is an under-recognized problem for younger girls.
