HOUSTON -- A New Caney man s password landed him in the middle of a child pornography investigation. It all started with what he thought was a good deed.

Nickolas Markeson said he found himself in the back of a squad car for a crime he had no knowledge of. Investigators told him they had traced child pornography to his Wi-Fi account.

Authorities closed in at Bill s 3G Trailer Park on Wednesday morning. Markeson recalled the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable s Office knocking on his door.

When they woke me up, my mind is going, what s going on right now, said Nickolas Markeson. There are cops all over the place, swarming my place. I m like, what did I do?

Markeson said it quickly clicked. He told investigators that he had given his Wi-Fi password to his next door neighbor.

Deputies raided the home of that neighbor, Jeremy Edwards. They allegedly found the evidence on Edwards home computer.

He gave me no reason to deny him, explained Markeson. I thought he was a friend, and finding this out, I m sorry I lost a friend.

Markeson said he s now considering losing Wi-Fi all together. He recommends that other Wi-Fi users keep their passwords private.

Edwards is in jail on $90,000 bail. Investigators said they caught him with images of children ages four to six years old.
