HOUSTON The next few days are going to be hot and steamy in the Houston area, but some relief should be on the way this weekend.

Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 90s with no chance for rain.

We re going to have to stick through a few more days of this crazy heat, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson. We are going to be nearing some records for Thursday and Friday.

Wear plenty of sunscreen and keep an eye on your kids and your pets if they re going to be outdoors.

The arrival of a cool front from the north overnight Saturday into Sunday will bring some relief along with a 30 percent chance of rain.

As we look at the extended forecast, I have the next three days in the upper-90s, but as you look at right when we hit Sunday, Monday, and even into Tuesday, overnight lows drop and afternoon highs do as well.

We re continuing totrack Tropical Storm Leslie in the Atlanic. It is a slow-movingstorm with maximum sustained winds of 65 miles per hour for now, but it could intensify to a Category 2 hurricane heading to Bermuda, perhaps by the weekend. It will not affect the United States.
