COLLEGE STATION, Texas A neighborhood near the Texas A&M campus was trying to get back to normal after a shooting rampage that left three people dead on Monday.

Brazos County Precinct One Constable Brian Bachmann was serving an eviction notice to Thomas Caffall at a home on Fidelity Street when police said Caffall opened fire. Bachmann died at the scene. Another man was also killed and several others injuredbefore officers were able to fatally shoot Caffall.

The eviction process was in the works because Caffall was two months behind on rent. He allegedly owed $1,250.

The crime scene in College Station was shrinking Tuesday night as investigators unraveled the confusion at the home. Police opened up some of the surrounding streets and allowed neighbors back inside.

Throughout the day there were signs that detectives were making progress. Most of the vehicles that were involved in the shooting were towed away.

Detectives said the investigation was taking so long because several different police officers from different agencies fired their weapons, and some vehicles may have been hit by friendly fire.
