HOUSTON An arrest has been made in connection with the deadly shooting that took place at a Project X -style party in southeast Houston.

Eighteen-year-old Ryan Spikes was found shot to death in front of a massive rave at 4404 Allison at Pembroke last March.

Now, John Gibbs, 22, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Some witnesses say that as many as 1,000 high school and college-aged young people attended the foam party, which was advertised on social media.

One partygoer said advertisements for the party included free alcohol and free drugs...all the extras.

Around 12:30 a.m., HPD officers arrived to clear the crowd after neighbors called complaining of noise. That s when more than one person began shooting, police said.

The victim, a Cypress Ranch High School student, was transported to Ben Taub, where he was pronounced dead.

A lawsuit was later filed against the owner of the home where the party was held, alleging that the homeowner and party promoter were negligent because they did not have a party permit from the city and because the event lacked security.
