HOUSTON A homeowner says the City of Houston needs to do more to control traffic on his street after a sport utility vehicle nearly hit his house.

It happened around 1 a.m. Monday on Parker Road at McGallion Road in north Houston.

According to police, a pickup truck slammed into the back of the SUV, causing it to hit a tree in the front yard of a house.

Homeowner Alex Saldana said he heard the wreck and came outside to help put out a fire with a garden hose. The SUV s male driver was trapped by tree limbs that had to be cut to free him. There was no immediate word on his condition.

Saldana said if it weren t for the tree, the SUV might have gone into the front bedroom of his home where his two daughters were sleeping.

According to Saldana, he and his neighbors have complained to the city about speeders and numerous accidents on their street before.

I m afraid to sleep now at night because it seems little by little they ve been taking part of our fence, said Saldana. The next thing is going to be my house, until they do something about the traffic.
