HOUSTON -- A search was under way for two men who fled after a woman and a teenage boy were killed Saturday in a collision in east Houston, police said.

The men were in a car that collided with a van at about 5:50 p.m. on the 610 South Loop at Manchester near the Ship Channel, police said.

The impact sent the van crashing into the guardrail, and the woman and 13-year-old boy were ejected over the side of the Ship Channel bridge. Police said the men who were inside the car got out and ran.

Four other people who were inside the van were taken to the hospital. There was no word on their conditions

Police shut the bridge down for about three hours to clear the wreckage. Traffic was flowing again around 8:30 p.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department.
