HOUSTON - Houston police said a pedestrian was killed when he stepped into traffic on Westheimer Road overnight.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday near W. Sam Houston Parkway.

According to officers with the Houston Police Department, a 51-year-old man attempted to cross the road in an unprotected area. He was struck by a white Ford F-150 pickup and died at the scene.

Police said a second driver couldn t stop in time and swerved into the pickup.

Both drivers stayed at the scene to talk to police. No charges are expected to be filed in the case.

No other injuries were reported.
