The reigns of the Baylor Bears offense are being handed over to junior Bryce Petty, who has thrown a grand total of 14 passes in his college career. That would normally be a huge concern, but when you have the weapons Baylor does, it might not be a problem.
The Bears will lean heavily on self proclaimed Heisman contender Lache Seastrunk. The former Oregon transfer rushed for 1, 012 yards and 13 scores last season and is poised to be even better in 2013.
The offensive line will have to develop chemistry throughout training camp, but Baylor has brought the necessary speed to compete in what has become a shoot-out type conference.
While Baylor can score in bunches, they also give points up as frequently. The Bears gave up 37.2 points per game in 2012, one of the worst averages in the country.
It hasn t been 4 years since Baylor cracked the top 100 in total defense. With offense scoring so quickly, the defense didn t get much rest last year and injuries started to take a toll.
If the Bears can figure out any way to stop people, any help could be enough to get them back to a 9 or 10 win season.
