LEAGUE CITY, Texas Crews completed repairs on a 24-inch water line overnight Wednesday, and city officials said mandatory rationing was no longer required.
The city went back to Stage 1 of its drought contingency plan following the repairs, which were needed after a utility crew hit a line while installing electrical poles.
The accident forced the city to enact Stage 3 of its drought plan. Some residents experienced water pressure problems, but there was no interruption of service reported, according to city officials.
Stage 1 of the city s drought plan urges residents to voluntarily conserve water. It was put in place on July 2 due to high water use and the state of the Brazos River.
Below are suggested guidelines for this voluntary stage of the Drought Contingency Plan:
-- Irrigate landscaped areas and lawns with hose-end sprinklers and mechanical/electrical controllers attached to the house outlet or automatic irrigation systems.
-- Irrigate on Monday and Thursday if you have even-numbered street address and Tuesday and Friday if you have an odd-numbered address.
-- Irrigation on designated days should be done during Daylight Saving Time during the hours of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following morning, or during Standard Time hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning.
-- Irrigate using hose-end sprinklers and automatic irrigation systems.
-- Limit irrigation to Mondays and Thursdays for irrigation activities in ZONE #1, Mondays and Thursdays for ZONE#2 and Tuesday and Fridays for ZONE #3. View zone map at http://leaguecity.com/DocumentCenter/Home/View/4918
-- Limit irrigation to hours of 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning on designated watering days.
We appreciate the patience of our residents and business community as we addressed the water leak yesterday afternoon; we understand that it was an inconvenience. However, our staff did a wonderful job of working with our contractors to get the leak repaired quickly with minimal impact o the community, said City Manager Mike Loftin. While we are no longer on mandatory rationing, I do ask residents to continue to take steps to conserve.
