HOUSTON The punishment phase continues for the Huffman man who killed his neighbor over loud musicand used the 'Stand Your Ground law as his defense. A Harris County jury convicted Raul Rodriguez, a retiredBaytown firefighter, of murder earlier this month.

Rodriguez killed New Caney P.E. teacher Kelly Danaher in May of 2010 after Rodriguez went outside Danaher s home armed with a video camera and a gun to tell his neighbor to turn down the music coming from his party.

Rodriguez claimed he shot Danaher and two others in self-defense.

During the trial, neighbors of Rodriguez testified that they had seen Rodriguez rough up his own children, but hissons tried to paint a different picture of their father Monday.

His sons said their father was strict, but he was always fair and in no way abusive.

A 16-year-oldstepson didn't deny that Rodriguezhit them in the genitals, as a neighbor testified earlier, but defended his motives.

That s how we played. It was like a high school locker room. That s how we bonded, saidAustin Coleman.

All three sons said they love their father and plan to visit him in prison.

Rodriguez faces from five to 99 years or life in prison.
