WELLINGTON, Fla. A Houston millionaire convicted of DUI manslaughter is back at his Florida mansion after posting bond Friday morning.

John Goodman was recently sentenced to 16 years in prison for the drunk driving death of Scott Patrick Wilson, 23.

Prosecutors said Goodman, a River Oaks native, was drunk when he crashed his $250,000 Bentley into Wilson s Hyundai in West Palm Beach. The Hyundai was pushed into a canal, and Wilson drowned.

Goodman walked away from the crash, saying he saw no sign of the young man s car.

Goodman will remain on house arrest while his attorneys appeal the case.

He has to wear an ankle monitor and two deputies will guard him at all times. The polo mogul is allowed to have visitors, but no parties, drugs or alcohol. He will be subject to random drug testing.

Goodman spent a few weeks in the Palm Beach County Jail before leaving this morning with police escorts surrounding his vehicle.

Goodman made worldwide headlines when he adopted his girlfriend, Heather Hutchins,to protect his family fortune from a lawsuit filed by the victim s family. Goodman later settled the suit for $46 million, according to WPEC-TV.
