KATY, Texas -- A new bond package is on the table at the Katy Independent School District. The price tag for this package is $748 million.

Last year, voters turned down a bond for $99 million that would have included a 14,000 seat stadium priced at $69.5 million and an agriculture science center for $22.5 million.

This time, a committee has worked for months to come up with comprehensive package to include the construction of six new schools, renovations, and a cheaper, slightly smaller stadium costing $58 million.

Committee members packed the Katy ISD meeting Monday night, excited about the plan.

What we have this time is a bond package that approximately 80 percent is education facilities, education support and backing things up, said parent and committee member Janet Thomason.

The district is a super good shepherd of our money, said parent and committee member Nikki Williams. They go the extra mile to make the most for what we're spending that's super important to me.

Board members have until August 18 to decide if this bond package will go on the ballot. If you would to take a look at the complete package presented to board members, click here.
