BELLAIRE, Texas -- A string of crimes in a week has Bellaire police warning people to be on alert.
In the last seven days we've had a number of events, said Bellaire Police Chief Byron Holloway. There's no rhyme or reason for the patterns of crime
On Monday, just after 9 a.m., clear surveillance video shows two burglars being dropped off at a house in the 4900 block of Valerie Street.
The cameras in the back show them weaving around the pool before putting on gloves and using a tool to shatter the glass door and get in.
Police said the two men stole jewelry and were out of the house in a matter of minutes
Their getaway car, which is actually believed to be a 2013 or 2014 grey Toyota RAV 4, pulled up to get them at the perfect time.
After looking at the video, Chief Holloway has no doubt that these thieves are professionals.
They've done this before, he said. They came prepared.
Bellaire has seen its fair share of crime in the past week.
Hours after the burglary on Valerie, a house in the 4600 block of Verone was hit. As one crook lured the resident into the backyard pretending to be with a tree trimming service, the other went inside the house.
Cash and a class ring were stolen.
On Wednesday, a home was burglarized in the 6900 block of Avenue B. The glass of a back door was shattered and two laptops were snatched.
Late last week, two people were mugged for their cell phones less than twenty minutes apart.
It scares me because things like that just don't happen in this neighborhood, said Bellaire resident Janice Stevenson.
Bellaire Police are asking anyone with information about these crimes to give them a call at (713) 668-0487.
